For Professional Partners

Refer clients you already trust. Get paid for it, disclosed and above board.

Built for realtors, financial advisors, property managers, and attorneys whose clients regularly need a tax preparer — a straightforward, written, fully disclosed referral arrangement.

The Structure

10% of first-year fees. Paid quarterly.

If you're a realtor closing on rental properties, a financial advisor whose clients need coordinated tax planning, a property manager fielding "who does my owner's taxes" questions, or an attorney whose clients need a return filed — this is for you.

Referral Fee 10%of the client's first-year fees

Paid on whatever the referred client actually pays Clear Street Tax in their first year — return prep, bookkeeping retainer, or both.

  • Paid quarterly, not per-referral
  • Fee is capped — details in the written agreement
  • Applies to first-year fees only, not ongoing years
How It Works Simple, written, disclosed

No handshake deals. Every partner referral runs through the same process:

  • We sign a short written referral agreement first
  • You send the introduction — I take it from there
  • The client's engagement letter discloses the referral fee
  • You get a quarterly statement and payment
Getting Started

Three steps to your first referral.

01 — Agreement

Sign the referral agreement

A short written agreement covering the 10% fee, the cap, and the quarterly payout schedule — nothing verbal, nothing informal.

02 — Refer

Send the introduction

An email, a warm intro, or a name and number — whatever's natural for how you work with your clients.

03 — Get Paid

Quarterly statement and payout

Once the referred client's invoice is actually paid, it shows up on your next quarterly statement.

Full Disclosure

Nothing about this is hidden from the client.

Every client whose engagement letter includes a referral states it plainly: "You were referred to Clear Street Tax by [Name]. A referral fee was paid for this referral, as disclosed under Circular 230." The client sees it before they sign anything.

Why this is structured this way: I reviewed this arrangement with a licensed CPA/EA and a licensed attorney before offering it, and built it around disclosure rather than around hiding the fee. That's not a legal opinion for your own situation — if you have questions about how this applies to your license or your firm's own compliance rules, that's worth a conversation with your own counsel.

Let's set up the agreement.

Send a note with your name, what you do, and roughly how many referrals a year you'd expect to send — I'll follow up with the written agreement.
